During the forest management planning process, road corridors are very carefully located – generally not within 100m of a watercourse. This distancing reduces the potential for sedimentation due to erosion after severe weather events.
Road construction is closely supervised and carefully planned. All our roads are built to a high standard and are structured to handle the level of traffic that is forecast for the area.
Routine maintenance is performed on forest roads to maintain the high standards to which our roads are built. Grader operators are trained in proper grading techniques to maintain drainage (i.e., appropriate slopes on the road surface) and to keep all water crossings free of debris.
