Growth and Yield

Growth and Yield is the study of individual trees and groups of tree species as they mature. The information from these studies helps our planning foresters predict growth patterns and the response of different trees to various forest management strategies.

Resolute Forest Products comprehensive Growth and Yield Program in Ontario is run in association with the Forest Ecosystem Science Co-operative. Information such as tree species, height, diameter, mortality and regeneration is collected at regular intervals from permanent growth and yield sample plots located in our forests and across Ontario. This data is used to create unique yield curves.

An important component of long term forest sustainability modeling, yield curves are used to predict the growth patterns of groups of tree species, as well as their response to different management strategies.
