Resource Stewardship Agreements (RSA’s) are voluntary agreements between two parties: a
Sustainable Forest License holder and a licensed resource-based tourist operator. These agreements are used to specify tourism values that the operator would like to see identified and protected, or to outline modified forestry operations within the vicinity of a tourist operator’s business. Generally, RSA’s are developed while the
Forest Management Plan (FMP) is being written.
While Resolute Forest Products Thunder Bay Woodlands does not have any RSA’s on our forests at this time, negotiations are taking place as we begin the process of renewing our FMP’s. Please visit the ‘New News’ section for more information.
As previously mentioned, RSA’s are voluntary and not all tourist operators wish to enter negotiations, it is anticipated that 50 to 60 RSA’s will be in place when the plans for all five forests have been completed.
