Almost 15 years ago, based on a review of emission tests on our stacks, the Resolute Forest Products Thunder Bay mill began down the path to improving air quality.
The results have been dramatic. Since 1994 there has been a 95% reduction in
particulate emissions and a 95% reduction in
TRS (odour) related emissions from the facility. Many of these improvements come from small projects while others, like the new ‘C’ Recovery Boiler, are very large and demonstrate a huge financial commitment.

Air Improvement Program involves more than just installing new equipment, it also includes extensive stack sampling of air emissions, computer modeling, engineering and an ongoing dialogue with the Ministry of Environment.
