Pulp and Paper

Air

Our mill operations quite naturally produce odours and smells—both good and bad. A great deal has been done to get rid of the bad odours.

Energy

As the largest consumer of energy in northern Ontario, Bowater’s newsprint and kraft pulp mills in Thunder Bay purchase thousands of kilowatts of electrical power from the provincial power grid.

Land

Pulp and paper manufacturing can be characterized as simply cooking on a giant scale. Ingredients are prepared, mixed, cooked and dried into sheets of kraft pulp—or rolls of newsprint

Water

Resolute Forest Products Thunder Bay operations depend heavily on large supplies of water to produce high quality kraft pulp and newsprint.
